Each student will conduct (3) counseling video sessions with a consenting adult or classmate utilizing the introductory skills and techniques that he or she has learned. It is not necessary to conduct all the sessions with the same individual but it is permissible and may provide some continuity to the process. Students should not use family members, work associates, or close acquaintances. The adult utilized as a “client” should not be someone who is presently in crisis or in need of professional counseling.
The focus of the taped sessions also should not be topics of major distress or of an inappropriately personal nature. The idea is more of a role-play with the individual however; the taped sessions should address real life issues.The “client” should NOT make up the story. Some examples of counseling issues might include things such as work/school stress, a job change, an area of personal or spiritual growth, etc.
Please utilize the consent form found in Course Materials section of Bb. Have the client sign the consent form for each demonstration, even if it is the same person, and submit/post the form for each of the three sessions.
